“While searching for a doula for my first baby, I had what I imagined to be a wishful-thinking vision for the birth: to feel as informed, empowered, prepared, and supported as many moms feel on their second go-round — only after disappointing first experiences made them wonder what might have been. Sophia was the answer. The minute I met her, I knew she was everything I sought in a doula: warm, funny, whip-smart, deeply passionate about birth work, highly knowledgeable about pregnancy, labor, and childbirth, and committed to giving me the exact experience I craved. What I couldn’t predict was how indispensable her presence in the delivery room (during all 40 hours of labor) would be — from her calming and encouraging energy, to her hands-on, proactive coaching through every contraction, to her sheer determination, even in the face of my own self-doubt. She’s an indelible part of my birth experience, and ended up being one of the best (if not THE best) decisions I made while pregnant.”

“Finding and hiring Sophia to be my doula was the best decision I made for myself, my husband and for my baby. She provided support, strength and guidance throughout my entire pregnancy, the 36+ hours I was in labor, and now, as I approach two weeks postpartum. Throughout my pregnancy, Sophia helped me troubleshoot any issues that came up and paired her answers with evidence and research, which I always appreciated. She guided my husband and me so we were as ready as we possibly could be for the birth that we both wanted. During labor, Sophia was on call until we needed her in person. She arrived at my house with her magic doula energy and a magic doula bag fully packed with anything I may have needed. Postpartum, she listened and read in-between the lines, and followed up (as always) with helpful and relevant information. Having Sophia as my doula, without a doubt, prepared me for having the empowered, educated, and enlightened pregnancy and birth experience that I had always hoped for.”

“From our very first prenatal meeting I felt heard and supported in my choices surrounding my pregnancy and birthing plan. As a first time mom, I had no idea what to expect with labor and delivery, and they helped me feel prepared for everything a hospital birth can throw at you (looking at you, triage). Most importantly for my own journey, was the support they provide postpartum. Sophia came to our apartment just days after our daughter was born and identified and helped fix a shallow latch, which was key to me continuing to breastfeed. Those first few weeks postpartum are so hard, and they were always just a text away with answers to all my questions. Hiring this awesome duo was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancy!”

“Sophia is an awesome doula! She’s extremely down to earth, brings joy and humor to her work, and informed and educated my husband and I throughout the entire process of pregnancy, labor and delivery. She’s incredibly informed. She really respected our hopes and dreams for labor and delivery, and was supportive throughout the L&D physically, verbally, and with her general presence. Sophia was able to know exactly what I needed during L&D and was extremely hands on in a way that was so helpful to both my husband and I. Sometimes medical treatment can be scary during such a stressful time of L&D and it was awesome to have Sophia to turn to for guidance and her knowledge in the moment. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and I only wish I could have had more time with her. The postpartum support was fantastic as well. I highly recommend working with Sophia.”

“Sophia's laid back energy really made me feel at ease when preparing for the birth of our daughter. She also has a lot of knowledge and shared different resources with me, whether it was with baby's latching, perineal massage or with how exactly to push the baby out. Thank you Sophia!!”

“I am so grateful that I had Sophia as my doula and highly recommend her to anyone else considering having a birth doula. I knew that my delivery had the potential to be tricky given a couple complications and that I had a higher probability of ending up needing a c-section. However, my goal remained having a vaginal delivery, if possible, while prioritizing the health of my baby and myself. I also hoped that regardless of how my baby would end up joining us, that I could feel happy and satisfied with my birth experience. When I interviewed with Sophia, I was immediately struck by how down to earth and frank she was about everything. I found her good humor and honesty, both refreshing and comforting and knew that we would be a good fit. Leading up to my delivery, Sophia was available for check ins and provided us with lots of helpful information and resources. When I eventually had my son, the birthing plan quickly went out the window as everything was happening in a different sequence than I'd hoped. Yet, Sophia made sure we felt empowered and confident in our decision making and that both myself, my baby and husband were supported the entire time - both physically and emotionally. When I ultimately had a c-section, I knew that we'd tried everything we could to avoid it and that it was the best decision for us as a family. I look back at the whole 48 hour period and think that I could not be more grateful to have had Sophia by our side and that while it was not the delivery I'd planned, it was still perfect for us.”

“We specifically chose Sophia as our doula due to her years of experience in early childcare and her in depth knowledge of childbirth! We knew that Sophia would be able to support and guide us through an emotional and spiritual experience. Of course, we are convinced her physical presence would create even that much more of a special experience for us, as we chose to do a virtual doula service due to the distance between us. The fact that I knew I was able to call or text Sophia at any moment made me feel such peace. Sophia provided us with many resources and specific resources for any and all questions and/or doubts we had during pregnancy AND postpartum! Also- she went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure that both me AND my partner felt supported.”

We loved how involved Sophia was throughout the process at the hospital. Sophia seemed to know exactly what to do at every moment and what was coming next. She was also very calm, and not squeamish about any of the wild stuff that was happening there.”

We chose Sophia as our doula because we had amazing vibes during our first conversation! She was super knowledgeable and at the same time had an incredibly relaxed vibe that kept us calm and centered. We loved the prenatal meetings, the incredible support by phone during a very scary labor and surgery, and all of the breastfeeding and c section related advice that we would never have learned from the doctors. Sophia shared so many tips and tricks we wouldn’t have known otherwise! Especially with respect to breastfeeding. And she provided incredible support for the non-birthing partner. Sophia brought a combination of deep knowledge, understanding and respect for what we were personally comfortable with, and a calm levelheadedness that kept us centered during even the most stressful times.

From the moment we connected Sophia became an amazing resource for us. Leading up to the due date she promptly and thoroughly responded to questions from stroller shopping to assessing evidence on natural induction methods. When labor started she was a reassuring cheerleader and when we needed extra support she came to our home to help labor more time at home as we planned. She helpfully corralled us in the excitement of getting to the hospital and took care of my support team as we got settled in the hospital. Sophia helped make the hospital room more comfortable and talked through labor progress and what was coming all the way through baby's first latch. Sophia's support was integral the first month of the 4th trimester. She supported my recovery and the rollercoaster of establishing feeding for the baby. We are so grateful for Sophia's support, passion and expertise on our journey!
